You don't pay to find out if your photo is valid. The compliance check and the printable sheet are both free. No card, no account.

Found a bug, got a rejected photo, missing your country's template, or just have a question? Write to us: messages are read by a human. Leave an email address if you'd like a reply.

About PassportNinja

PassportNinja is a free tool that creates compliant passport photos for 70+ countries — no account required, no watermark, no file stored after processing. The tool handles cropping, background colour and size requirements automatically. PassportNinja is part of the ShinobiTools suite of free AI-powered browser tools.

What to include in your message

Bug report: mention which country template you selected, what you uploaded, and what went wrong. A screenshot of the unexpected result or an error message helps us fix it faster.

Missing country template: let us know which country and document type (passport, ID card, visa) you need — we'll add it.

Question: check the FAQ on the home page first — most common questions about sizing, background colour and printing are answered there.

Response time

We aim to reply within 1–3 business days when an email address is provided. Messages without an email are read but cannot be answered individually.

Before you write about a rejected photo

In the 40 days we've been measuring (13 July – 21 August 2026), the tool rejected 57 uploads before they reached a download button. It's rarely a size problem: of the 354 uploads measured in the same period, the average file was 1.68 MB and the largest was 24.06 MB — every one of them comfortably inside the limit, none within 10% of it. If your upload was rejected, check the on-screen message first — it names the actual check that failed (the tool tests background colour, head size and crop margins), rather than assuming the file itself was too big.

If the tool felt slow

A few uploads in our own logs took noticeably longer to process than the rest — most finish in about two to three seconds, the slowest we've logged so far took 6.8 seconds. That's not a sign anything failed: the photo endpoint occasionally queues behind other jobs on the same machine. If a result never arrives at all after a minute or two, that's worth reporting; a few extra seconds on a single request isn't.

We never ask you to send photos by email — the tool deletes them automatically, your inbox doesn't.
